The Kansas City, Kansas Public Schools (KCKPS) is a nationally recognized urban school district that serves approximately 22,000 students and 60+ different languages are spoken in the homes of our students. With Head Start/preschools, 28 elementary schools, 7 middle schools, and 5 college and career academies/high schools, we are the fifth largest district in the state of Kansas and our student population is approximately 51% Hispanic, 27% African American, 11% White, and 7% Asian. To serve our students, the district employs approximately 4,000 employees including more than 1,600 teachers.
JOB GOAL: Support all aspects of the recruitment and application process to identify eligible families and ensure full enrollment for the Early Childhood programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support the scheduling process for applications of prospective new families.
- Support families in gathering relevant items for the enrollment application.
- Confirm intake appointment and review all information provided by families prior to appointments.
- Provide an individualized phone or face to face interview with families.
- Provide resources and referrals to prospective families as needed throughout the application process.
- Maintain the highest attention to detail during the data entry process
- Ensure full completion of each application to ensure precise recordkeeping and reporting
- Use the information gathered to determine which program is the best for the family.
- Make corrections as needed based on feedback provided by the ERSEA Specialist within required timelines.
- Attend and participate in community events to provide recruitment for the program.
- Maintain a thorough knowledge and understanding of Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act and related regulations regarding Eligibility.
- Assist with the review, maintenance, and storage of child files
- Manage student data in ChildPlus and Infinite Campus for students enrolling in the program.
- Understand and maintain a working knowledge of laws and regulations that pertain to confidentiality of student records, personally identifiable information, and all procedures related to student information

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma required (Associates of Arts or above preferred)
- Proficient using standard software programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access; FileMaker Pro; email, district student enrollment software, ChildPlus
- Organized and detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to multi-task and problem solve
- Excellent interpersonal skills and professional judgment
COMMUNICATION / ORGANIZATION: Maintains communication with school personnel, and parents/guardians to enhance cooperative action which will meet the educational needs of students.
Utilizes existing technology effectively in the performance of duties.
Performs other related work as required.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and analyze and interpret general professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, general curriculum and learning theories, correspondence, and protocols. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of administrators, staff, parents, students, and the general public.

EVALUATION: Performance of this position will be evaluated in accordance with the Board of Education policy on evaluation.
